In this paper, current investigations at the Institute for Machine Tools and Factory Managment (IWF) of the Technical University Berlin are presented, where acoustic emission sensors for the in-process determination of the deep-drawing quality and the transmission behaviour of acoustic emission signals on a deep-drawing tool model were examined. The aim of these investigations was to determine a possible correlation between the transmission behaviour of acoustic emission signals and the deep-drawing quality detecting especially the development and the size of wrinkles. This offers the possibility to characterise the part quality of all drawn parts in process and so detect parts with errors in an early stage of the manufacturing process.
